So, you’ve booked your eyelash extension appointment? How exciting! As you readily anticipate your new look and life without strip lashes and copious amounts of mascara, there are a few things that you can do to prepare for your appointment.
From absolutely necessities to tips to help you stay comfortable throughout the duration of your appointment, here are six ways that you can help make your eyelash extensions appointment a relaxing experience.
Be in your eyelash extension appointment on time
Beauty treatments should count as ‘you’ time, a chance to pamper yourself and relax. With this in mind, make sure you allow yourself enough time to arrive five minutes before your appointment – there’s nothing worse than rushing and arriving stressed and flustered.
This may also help any nerves if this is your first eyelash extension appointment. That being said, if an exceptional circumstance comes up, make sure you call your eyelash artist to make them aware – you may need to reschedule.
Don’t wear make-up
Au-natural is the vibe – arrive fresh-faced and let your lash artist do the work. If the thought of going bare-faced makes you uncomfortable, you may wear base make-up like foundation and bronzer, but the eye area needs to be completely clear of make-up, including mascara and strip-lashes.
This is because make-up will stop your new lash extensions from adhering properly. If you are in any doubt, take your make-up remover (not oil-based, as it can dissolve lash glue) and wipe-wipe-wipe until every remnant of eyeshadow, liner and mascara is dissolved.
Avoid caffeine
What happens when we drink coffee? We get the jitters, our legs do that twitching thing, and we get a sudden burst of energy. Imagine trying to keep your eyelids relaxed whilst this is all going on and you’ll see why we ask that you leave the coffee until after your appointment!
To get the best results and ensure that you have the most relaxing experience possible, refrain from consuming all caffeinated and energy drinks at least three hours before your eyelash extension appointment. Why not arrange to meet a friend for a cuppa’ after your appointment so you can show off your new look!
Come with ideas
Have you seen your perfect lashes on a celebrity? Bring a photo along! In the lead up to your appointment have a browse on Instagram and screenshot some images that reflect the look you’re going for.
There are so many different styles and shapes out there that it will take some research to work out what you like best. Of course, your lash artist can offer their advice on what they think would be best for you, so maybe arrive with a couple of options so you can discuss together.
Get comfy!
This is a dress-down kind of appointment! Make sure you are nice and comfortable for the duration of your experience as you may be in a lying down position for a couple of hours with little chance to move around.
We recommend bringing a light weight jumper too, encase you get cold and make sure that your hair isn’t scraped back too tightly to avoid any discomfort there.
Use the bathroom before your lash appointment
This may sound silly, but it’s important. Once you lay down on that bed and your lash appointment begins, you won’t want the fidgeting and uncomfortable feeling of needing to go to the bathroom ruining your relaxation time.
Although your lash artist will allow you to go mid-appointment should you need to, we recommend going before-hand to ensure that you are as comfortable as possible. If you think you can ‘hold it’ then remember that you could be laying on that bed for between two and three hours!
Follow these tips and let your lash artist do the rest of the work. Above all, the most important thing is that you enjoy your eyelash extension experience – some people even fall asleep on the bed, so it can be relaxing!
